Professions in ArcheAge are what allow players to build and drive the game's economy.
They are the skills that your character gain proficiency in through doing various activities such as gathering, potion making, or commerce. Proficiency is earned based on labor spent for the activity. Professions have different tiers of proficiency that a player can achieve over time.

All professions can be trained to 10,000 points, however there are limitations on the number of professions that can be ranked.
Players are allowed six Novice ranks, six Veteran ranks, five Expert ranks, four master ranks, three Authority ranks, two Champion, Adept, Herald, Virtuoso, and Celebrity ranks, and one Famed rank. When your proficiency reaches the capacity for its current tier, you'll be asked if you want to specialize in that proficiency to raise it higher.
By default, players have five specializations. You can expand your available number of specializations up to twenty by using Specialization Snowflakes in the Proficiency window..
By default, you can only have up to 5 proficinecies at Novice or higher, 4 at Veteran or higher, 3 at Expert or higher, and 2 at Master.
